    ANOCA's Zone V Assembly urges to strengthen member's cooperation.

    After three days of extensive discussion about Olympic movement within the Zone and the importance of the member's collaboration, the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa's Zone V General Assembly was concluded in Sudan'

After three days of extensive discussion about Olympic movement within the Zone and the importance of the member's collaboration, the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa's Zone V General Assembly was concluded in Sudan's capital Khartoum on Sunday.

The meeting attended by all member associations have started with entertainment comprising of a colourful traditional dancing and string of performances by Sudanese singers before the delegates were addressed by the president of Sudan’s aide and the minister of Youth and Sports who have shown their support and contentment of how glad they are to welcome the Zone’s Olympic Association leaders in Khartoum and wished them an enjoyable stay in Sudan.  

"We have had a very constructive and productive discussions of how we can enhance the methods of communication and cooperation between the Associations which is vital for the sports development of the Zone as well as the organisation’s effectiveness of governance” said the secretary General of Somali Olympic Committee who was at the meeting for Somalia

Other issues discussed at this meeting included the lack of leadership roles for Zone v executives in continental level and was approved to set up a workforce that will diagram the next year’s assignment for the association.

"Our zone produces the highest number of award- winning athletes in international competitions for the continent and we have in conclusion agreed to strengthen the working relationship among us and to create an environment where we can share out information. The assembly appointed a panel three members from Burundi, Somalia and Sudan’s Olympic associations to be the backbone of a way forward plan that will constitute the institute’s Olympic Movement mission” added Duran Farah, the secretary general of Somali Olympic Committee when reached by NOCSOM’s media
