    Somali NOC Delegation visits London Olympic park

    A delegation from Somali National Olympic committee on Monday visited the London Olympic Park, the scene where the 2012 world Olympic Games will be held next year.

A delegation from Somali National Olympic committee on Monday visited the London Olympic Park, the scene where the 2012 world Olympic Games will be held next year.


The Delegation under the leadership of Somali NOC first vice president and the Somali
chef De Mission to the 2012 games Duran Ahmed Farah admired at how hugely the preparations are under way and London’s commitment to make unprecedented opening ceremony for next year’s world Olympic Games.

The Somali NOC senior vice president Duran Ahmed Farah said in a press statement on Tuesday that Somali NOC and other NOCs from Malawi, Slovenia, and Solomon Islands and other countries were invited to visit the Olympic park on Monday was part of several visits by Delegations from all IOC member NOCs around the world.

“We visited Olympic Stadium (football & athletics),White Hall (basketball Arena), Copper Box (Handball Arena), Velodrome, Hockey Centre, Aquatics Centre, the compounds where the opening g and closing ceremonies of the Olympic games will be held and pother beautiful buildings” the Somali NOC senior vice president said in his Tuesday’s press statement.

The visited compounds also include the international broadcast centre/main press centre where journalists from around the world will operate during the Olympic Games next year.

The NOS senior vice president said that the construction of the Olympic Part is in its final stages adding that London is in huge preparations for hosting very beautiful Olympic Games next year.

“The scenes we visited include a large building which is intended to house more than 17,000 athletes from around the world–it was really very admirable” Mr. Duran added in his press statement Tuesday.

Despite difficulties in the country the Somali National Olympic committee is currently under preparations for the 2012 London Olympic Games.
