Hawa Sheik Taako a former Somali National women’s basketball team maker, the mother of a sports family said that with the death of Somali NOC and Somali FA Presidents Somali sport lost two great volunteers who risked themselves in the promotion of sport in lawless country where life was even hard let a lone to be worked.
“When I really heard the bad news of the death of the two leading figures, I became very frustrated and even I couldn’t control my self---I knew both men and what I can tell of them is only that they devoted themselves to developing Somali sport and they preferred to remain home despite insecurity to prevent Somali sport from destroying” Hawa Taako said in her condolence message to all members of Somali sports, the families, children and wives of the beloved colleagues.
“We belong to Allah and we will all return to him–May Allah rest them in his Fardowsa Paradise” said HawaTaako on the behalf of her children and husband Osman Shiis, himself a sports legend.
Somalis are still talking about the histories and the past activities of the two late sporting leaders whose remembrance will always remain in the minds of all Somali people.
“They died but their views are still with us and we will follow behind” Hawa Taako added in her condolence message sent to Somali National Olympic committee and Somali Football Federation.
