The headquarters of Somali National Olympic Committee has been reopened as mourning ends after last week’s shocking deaths of Somali NOC president Aden Hajji Yeberow and Somali FA president Said Mahmoud Nur who were killed in a suicide bombing in Mogadishu.
After headquarters reopened the Somali National Olympic Committee executive committee members assembled to a lengthy meeting during which they discussed on the future of Somali sport and the long way a head after the sudden deaths of two leading figure in Somali sport last week.
Chaired by Somali NOC acting president Duran Ahmed Farah the executive committee members agreed to redouble their efforts in a bid to achieve the huge tasks a head Somali NOC and its member federations after the deaths of former leaders.
“We agreed to work harder as much as we can and to follow behind the foot steps of our beloved colleagues who lead Somali sports to a higher development in their era as leaders” the Somali NOC acting president said in a press statement after the executive committee meeting at Somali NOC headquarters in Mogadishu this week.
“Somali NOC and its member federations have in the past been one and will always work as one” Duran said in his statement adding that Somali National Olympic committee and Somali Football Federation will always be fully aware of the situations of families of the two late brothers who devoted their lives to developing Somali sports in a very difficult time.
“We are still saddened with the shocking deaths of my brother and closest friend Said Mahmoud Nur and my teacher and second father Aden Hajji Yeberow, but we have to continue the tasks they were doing after their deaths” the statement noted after NOC executive committee meeting in Mogadishu.
