The executive committee of Somali Olympic Committee conducted its second meeting of the year at Shamo Hotel in Mogadishu on Saturday, intending to highlight the achievements of the past three months, challenge encountered and to speed up projects that has not been accomplished as planned.
General Secretary of Somali Olympic Committee Duran Farah summarized the quarter’s completed projects and emphasized the importance of completing works that needs to be carried out before defining the meeting’s programme.
The meeting chaired by the president of Somali Olympic Committee Abdullahi Tarabi was discussed on the preparation of Somali Athletes Day, the likelihood of increasing members of the executive board that was proposed by some members and lastly to review the yearly budget of the affiliate national Federations and Associations.
Speaking at the meeting the president of Somali Olympic Committee praised the board for the way it has been conducting its activities for the first quarter of the year and its relentless efforts to complete its assignments.
After a long and productive discussion the board has agreed to appoint a task force for the celebration of Athletes Day on the 6th of April 2015. The meeting also agreed to create working groups to review the structure of the excutive board as well as the needs for national Associations and Federations in order for them to be able to increase their activities.
